Motivation 1-18-16, Must Read!

Hello Everyone!

As most of us do, at the beginning of a NEW YEAR, we get ambitious with most things, and I for one am no exception.  Just this weekend, I decided to “clean out my office” and look what I found:  a letter written to me from a dear past-client from San Diego, California.  It reads:

Christmas 2001

Dearest Kirsten,

Where to begin.  This year has been an incredible journey.  With your formidable expertise and support, I have been able to achieve something I had thought beyond my reach.  A year ago, as I’ve done countless times before, I resolved to change my body and my life.  Truthfully, I had my doubts.  Not because of you – but because I think, deep down, I’ve never totally believed in myself.  Though lonely, it seemed somehow safer to hide behind a heavy body and untried wings.  I secretly expected, and maybe wanted, to fail.  I couldn’t yet visualize another way.  I was truly stuck.  I’d gone underground.

But there you were, after almost two years of working together, holding out your hand again.  I remember so clearly your words to me last January.  You told me that I’d have to trust you, let go of the control – no complaining – and be willing to go for it.  Something clicked.  I guess you made me realize that the only thing standing in my way was me.  From that point on, you were my cheerleader, unfaltering guide and unwavering coach.  If we hit a wall, you figured out a way over it.  If I got stuck, you had ideas and endless inspiration.  When I cried, you hugged me.  But, more than anything, you taught me to just keep going.  To believe.  Inherent in the richness you bring to my door three times a week is the underlying belief that anything is possible.  You have helped me learn that all the days do add up to something big – or smaller – depending on what you put into them.  It’s become such a liberating way of life.

As a result, I have been able to find the courage and commitment to shrink the parts that needed trimming and grow the passion and sense of possibility that makes life the rich journey it’s meant to be.  I know I would not be standing at this breathtaking crossroads in my life had it not been for you.  I thank you with all my heart for your professionalism ( all the times you show up with little or no sleep after a long night with the boys ), your ingenuity in finding a way around any obstacle, your passion, your energy, your light, your inquisitive mind that always digs in and gets to the bottom of whatever seems daunting, your perpetual willingness to meet me more than halfway.

Perhaps the greatest gift you have given me is a roadmap for tapping into my own strength and courage.  It’s a journey we’ve shared this year.  For that reason, I wanted to give you something to thank and honor you.  I can’t wait for next year………….

Love, DeeAnne

I clearly remember the day that DeeAnne gave me the greatest gift of all.  Her time, her thoughts, her honesty, her trust and most of all her openness and appreciation.

I save all of my “gifts”.  They are a constant inspiration and motivation to me, my soul, my being, and that is why “I show up”.  I show up for me.  You all are my greatest gifts.  If I can motivate and inspire you, my day is complete.

It is time for you to “show up for you”.

What has you stuck?
